Situated in Huntly, a small town in
the North-East corner of Scotland, Dean's of Huntly began manufacturing
their premium hand baked shortbread in 1975.
The origins of the business lie with Mrs Helen Dean who first started
to bake shortbread to raise funds for the Huntly Pipe Band. Soon
demand for her product spread further afield and prompted her to
set up her own small bakery in the town to make and sell her unique
shortbread.
Business grew steadily during the 1980's with more and more new
customers buying the Dean's product - and buying it again and again!
- and it became apparent that further growth could not be accommodated
in these premises. So in 1992 Dean's of Huntly moved to a new purpose
built factory on the outskirts of Huntly.
While the location changes the product most certainly has not and
will not. Made to a traditional family recipe, only the finest ingredients
are used. Modern production equipment has been integrated with a
high level of manual input which gives the product that home-made
taste and appeal.
Quality is of paramount importance to the Dean's. Stringent controls
are observed at all stages of production with a fully implemented
H.A.C.C.P. system in place, which has been approved by a recognised
third party accreditation body. In addition, regular tastings are
carried out to ensure the quality is consistent and of the same
high standards as when the business began in 1975.
Truly a family business Dean's of Huntly have grown substantially
since 1975 and are fast becoming recognised as "the leading
premium quality Scottish shortbread manufacturer". |
